Bible: Is it genuine?

Why should anyone believe that Bible is genuine, unaltered and true revelation from God?

Most people seem to criticize the authenticity of this holy book...I have gone through many websites like youtube and other social networking sites, where people debate, argue pointlessly and irrationally condemning other religious faiths and their holy scriptures. But unfortunately, those who quarrel & use perverse language have not read these holy books nor know anything about others faith. They, I'm sure, most likely wouldn't have even read their own Holy scriptures.

Many who have not read the Bible tend to go along with the popular delusion that the Bible is full of mistakes and is no longer relevant to our modern world.

The Holy Bible if was written by one person, then it is easy to understand the cohesiveness throughout the books. But Bible is a collection of 66 books, written by 40 different men over a period of 2,000 years. It was written in Hebrew, Greek and Aramic. It was written by writers from many walks of life and also to be noted is the timespan of 400 years between the Old Testament and the New Testament. Yet, it is clearly one Book, with perfect unity and consistency throughout.

There are hundreds of Prophesies in the bible and many have been fulfilled. This can't be a coincidence.
Lets examine what is prophecy? Webster's definition: an inspired utterance of a prophet/ prediction.
The Bible gives these two criteria.
  1. Deuteronomy 18:21-22 - "And if you say in your heart, 'How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?'-when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken;"
  2. Deuteronomy 13:1-3 - "If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, 'Let us go after other gods'-which you have not known-'and let us serve them,' you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul."
Of course, there are remarkable predictions made by lot of people seeking signs and wonders but the signs and wonders don't line up with God's word.
Predictions by Spiritists, sorcerers, mediums (communicators with the dead) and others, rarely are about 60 percent accurate, never totally accurate. But Bible with 100% accuracy foretells specific events-in detail-many years, sometimes centuries, before they even occur.

I think these reasons are enough to believe that Bible is reliable.
